Welcome to Thousand Oaks

Thousand Oaks is a city located in Southern California. It is the second-largest city in Ventura County, and is situated in the northwestern area of Greater Los Angeles. Just a few miles away from both the San Fernando Valley and Ventura County beaches, Thousand Oaks was named after the many trees present in the community. Incorporated in 1964, the city has since expanded to the west and east, now a master-planned community home to an average population of 130,000.

The city forms the populated center of Conejo Valley. Residents here enjoy a year-round, mild Mediterranean climate. Having top-rated public schools present in the city, many families find Thousand Oaks to be a great place to start a family and raise kids. The city houses many commercial enterprises, as residents can enjoy open air shopping, dining and entertainment at Janss Marketplace; or a more private enclosed shopping and dining experience at The Oaks mall.

Outdoor lovers can hike for as long as they want on the over 140 miles of trails, spanning more than 15,000 acres of open space throughout Thousand Oaks. With the city’s park boasting even more trails with beautiful waterfalls; the Los Robles Greens golf course; and easy access to the Pacific coasts, residents can take up hiking, golfing, surfing, and fishing.
